When you are installing a new hardwood floor you will inevitably need hardwood mouldings and accessories to finish the job. Mouldings and accessories are an essential part of fitting any wooden floor. They help to cover gaps in doorways, around the edge of the room, and can even be used to clad a staircase. There are many different options of accessories to choose from, including solid wood to match your floor, MDF accessories in different colours and finally metal trims for a contrast.

Which ones will I need?
This will very much depend on your property and what requirements you have. The most commonly used flooring accessories are skirting, beading and door bars. Here is a quick guide to the different mouldings and accessories and what they can be used for:
Skirting is needed to cover the expansion gap between your hardwood floor and the wall.
Beading, which is also known as quarter round or scotia, is needed to cover the expansion gap between your hardwood floor and any existing skirting board.
Door Bars (Thresholds) are needed to cover expansion gaps between doorways. There are different types depending on whether you have the same level of flooring on both sides or different levels. Here are some examples: Wood to Carpet Threshold, Ramp Threshold, and Flat Threshold.
Pipe Covers are needed to surround the base of pipework usually from radiators or other household pipes that meet your flooring.
